OYE-EKITI – Prophet Joel Ogebe of House of Salem International Ministries has urged Nigerian undergraduates to commit themselves to serious engagement with the Bible, describing it as essential for spiritual maturity and lasting impact.
Addressing a congregation at a prophetic prayer meeting hosted by the Christian Arm of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), the preacher stressed that sustained spiritual growth requires more than emotional enthusiasm — it demands a deep, personal knowledge of scripture.
The event, titled “6 Hours Strictly Prophetic Prayer Charge in the Days of His Power,” drew students and members of the university community into hours of intense worship and teachings.
Prophet Ogebe warned that many young Christians struggle spiritually because they lack scriptural grounding. He likened spiritual effectiveness to professional competence, stating that “just as no one can practice medicine without mastering the sciences, believers cannot thrive spiritually without knowing the word of God.”
He encouraged students not to separate their academic pursuits from their spiritual development, noting that both can be pursued side by side. True strength in the faith, he said, comes not from sentiment but from a life rooted in divine truth and guided by the Spirit.
Delving into the theme of covenant, he described it as a sacred channel through which intimacy with God is established and sustained. Without such a foundation, he said, spiritual experiences may lack direction and depth.
He concluded by calling on Christian students to develop substance in their spiritual lives, saying only those who are grounded in truth can offer something of value to their generation.
