A fresh war of words has erupted between Femi Fani-Kayode and Dele Momodu, with the former launching a scathing personal attack over what he described as a long history of betrayal and failed ventures.

In a post shared on his verified Facebook page, Fani-Kayode accused Momodu of deception, political opportunism, and disloyalty to associates and benefactors over the years.

He traced Momodu’s early years to his time at the university, alleging that he “was a fraudulent rain maker who claimed to be able to ‘tie the rain’ for people on the day they were having special outdoor events,” adding that “he duped the owner of a beauty pageant in this way in 1982, collected his money yet the rain still fell.”

Fani-Kayode also claimed that after graduating, Momodu “couldn’t get a job so he started off as a bread hawker on the street after getting a 3rd class degree in Yoruba at OAU,” before being assisted by the late Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. According to him, Abiola “bought him shoes and put him in charge of his Wonder Bakery,” after which Momodu later ventured into journalism.

The former minister further alleged that Momodu betrayed Abiola and later depended on support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, claiming he “collected handouts from him for years” before turning against him.

On Momodu’s political career, Fani-Kayode stated that he “ran for President and got one vote,” insisting that “everything he attempted to do always crashed.” He also accused him of opposing the southern presidency in 2023 and of criticising Tinubu ahead of the 2027 political cycle.

Continuing, he said, “Dele’s pattern of betrayal cannot be denied. It is unmistakable,” alleging that Momodu repeatedly fell out with allies, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

Fani-Kayode further warned former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to be cautious, stating, “Atiku would be well-advised to be very afraid of Dele,” while suggesting that shifting political alliances could influence Momodu’s stance in the future.

He concluded with harsh criticism, describing Momodu as “a bread hawker, political prostitute and GLUTTON of the ages.”

As of press time, Momodu has yet to publicly respond to the allegations.
