In a goodwill message, the governor praised Oba Salami for his impactful leadership and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Idena since his ascension to the throne.

“Your reign has brought about peace, unity, and tangible progress to Idena and its surroundings,” Governor Abiodun said. He noted that the monarch’s openness and dedication to communal development have earned him widespread admiration across all generations in his domain.

Governor Abiodun also acknowledged the monarch’s efforts in fostering a strong relationship between the traditional leadership and the state government, a partnership he said has helped spur growth in Iperu Remo and beyond.

“As you mark this special day, we ask for divine blessings of wisdom, good health, and continued success in your leadership journey,” the governor added, describing Oba Salami as a model of traditional leadership complementing modern governance.

Celebrations in Idena were vibrant, featuring special prayers at the Central Mosque, cultural displays by local groups, and empowerment initiatives targeted at young people and women.

Community leaders who spoke at the event praised the monarch for his accessibility and visible contributions, especially in the areas of education and public infrastructure. The Olu of Iperu, Oba Adeleke Idowu Basibo, alongside other traditional rulers from Remo, led the festivities in honor of Oba Salami.

Chairperson of the local government, Hon. (Mrs.) Latifat Ayoola described the Ebi of Idena as a unifying figure whose reign coincides with the commissioning of new projects across the community.

The day’s activities concluded with a grand reception at the palace, where guests and residents were entertained with rich cultural performances and traditional dishes.
