As read in a Press release signed on Monday by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the three-day forum, scheduled for September 16–18, will bring together security ministers, police chiefs, law enforcement leaders, and experts from different parts of the world to deliberate on strategies for tackling cross-border crime and strengthening global security partnerships.

The Force PRO explained that Egbetokun’s address will highlight Nigeria’s efforts in crime prevention, ongoing police reforms, and collaborations with international partners to weaken transnational criminal networks and safeguard communities.

Hundeyin added that before the forum, the Inspector-General will meet with China’s Deputy Minister of Public Security, Mr. Qi Yanjun, on September 15, 2025, to discuss ways of deepening security cooperation, intelligence sharing, and capacity building between both countries.

He noted that the IGP’s participation speaks of Nigeria’s commitment to international cooperation and its role in shaping global responses to security challenges.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, has led a distinguished Nigerian delegation to the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum (GPSCF) taking place from 16th – 18th September 2025 in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province, People’s Republic of China.

The IGP’s participation in this high-profile international gathering comes at the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China. The Forum brings together Ministers of Security, Chiefs of Police, law enforcement leaders, and security experts from across the globe to deliberate on collective strategies to confront transnational crime, strengthen partnerships, and advance global public safety.

As part of the programme, IGP Egbetokun will on 18th September 2025 deliver a Keynote Address on the theme “Combating Transnational Crime and Countermeasures.” His presentation will spotlight Nigeria’s ongoing counter-crime initiatives, innovative policing reforms, and collaborative efforts with international partners in disrupting cross-border criminal networks and safeguarding communities.

Ahead of the Forum, the IGP will on 15th September 2025 hold a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Minister of Public Security of China, Mr. Qi Yanjun. Discussions will focus on enhancing security cooperation, intelligence sharing, capacity building, and strengthening law enforcement ties between Nigeria and China.

The attendance of IGP Egbetokun at this global platform underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to international security collaboration, intelligence-driven policing, and proactive responses to emerging security threats.
