This assurance came during a courtesy visit to the Force Headquarters in Abuja by Lord David George Hanson, the United Kingdom’s Minister from the Home Office.

During the meeting held at Louis Edet House, both officials acknowledged the growing risks posed by international criminal networks, particularly those behind fraudulent and cyber-related offences.

Lord Hanson, speaking on behalf of the UK Government, praised the ongoing collaboration between British agencies and the Nigerian police in the fight against online crime. He expressed interest in strengthening this cooperation and announced plans for a forthcoming Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that would provide a clear framework for further joint efforts.

In his response, the IGP expressed appreciation for the UK’s continued support. He described the visit as a reflection of a shared determination to deal with security challenges that transcend national borders. He also voiced his interest in establishing a fellowship exchange programme with the UK’s National Crime Agency, aiming to deepen the relationship between both countries’ law enforcement bodies.

Dr. Egbetokun reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s resolve to expand its collaborative ties with relevant partners across the world in pursuit of safer communities and more effective crime prevention.
