The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has extended the sale of application forms for the 2026 Direct Entry admission to May 8, shifting the earlier deadline to give more candidates a chance to complete their registration.
The extension was announced in a statement by the Board’s spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, who said the move is part of efforts to widen access to tertiary education across the country.
“As part of measures aimed at ensuring that no Direct Entry prospective candidate is denied the opportunity to access tertiary education in the country, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the sale of Direct Entry (DE) application documents to 8th May 2026 from the earlier closing date.”
The Board also disclosed that five new centres have been approved to handle registration in locations experiencing heavy turnout of applicants.
“In furtherance of its objective of expanding access to tertiary education, the Board had also approved five additional centres to register applicants for the Direct Entry exercise in areas with much pressure.”
The newly approved centres include the Centre for Open and Distance Learning, Mini Campus, University of Ilorin, Kwara State; Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State; Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State; Prof. Usman E-Learning Centre, Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo, Oyo State; and Human Development Initiatives (Grace House), Iwaya, Sabo, Lagos, which is set to begin operations from April 30, 2026.
JAMB urged prospective candidates to take advantage of the extension, noting that its offices nationwide, including Professional Registration Centres and Professional Testing Centres, remain open for the ongoing exercise.
