The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced registration for admission into Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) and Non-Technological Agricultural programmes without requiring candidates to sit the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The development was announced by JAMB in a statement issued by its Acting Director of Public Affairs and Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
The Board said the registration exercise is open to candidates seeking admission into Colleges of Education offering NCE programmes and Polytechnics running Non-Technological Agricultural courses, provided they possess the required O’Level credits.
It explained that applicants are expected to visit any Institutional Professional Registration Centre (IPRC) located in Colleges of Education or any JAMB Professional Registration Centre (PRC) across the country to complete the registration process.
JAMB recalled that the Federal Government had earlier removed the requirement for candidates applying for NCE and Non-Technological Agricultural programmes to participate in the UTME.
The Board said, “JAMB has developed a robust admission process to ensure that only qualified candidates are admitted, thereby maintaining and enhancing the quality and standards of these programmes.”
It added that under the arrangement, eligible candidates only need to present their O’Level credentials at any designated IPRC or JAMB PRC to complete their registration, stressing that “There is no requirement to sit for the annual UTME.”
The Board also urged prospective applicants to take advantage of the opportunity by visiting the approved registration centres without delay.
JAMB said candidates who participated in the 2026 UTME but have chosen to study NCE or Non-Technological Agricultural programmes can convert their applications at any IPRC or JAMB PRC “at no additional cost.”
The Board said the policy is designed to widen access to NCE and Non-Technological Agricultural programmes while preserving and enhancing the standard of the academic pathways.
