The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing construction and rehabilitation of road networks spanning 60 kilometres across the state.

He made the remarks during a project inspection tour of Ilaje Local Government Area on Friday, where he evaluated the progress of several roadworks supported by both the state government and development partners.

This was disclosed by Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, who stated that the visit was part of the administration’s efforts to monitor infrastructure development across all three senatorial districts.

While addressing reporters in Igbokoda, the Governor pointed out that the inspected roads are part of a broader initiative to improve rural connectivity and economic access. He noted that the projects are being executed by various contractors, including those working under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAMP), a program backed by the World Bank with financial contributions from the state government.

“These roads are intended to open up rural areas and make it easier for our farmers to move their produce to markets and cities,” Aiyedatiwa explained.

Among the projects visited was the 4.5-kilometre NDDC Quarters road in the South Senatorial District, being handled by the Ministry of Infrastructure. The Governor observed that work on the project had reached between 15 and 20 percent completion.

He was accompanied on the tour by officials from the Ministry of Works, as well as Engr. Abiola Olawoye, Special Adviser on Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing.

The Governor also inspected RAMP project locations, including the 1.7-kilometre Araromi Beach road leading to Holy Center, where contractors have now been mobilized, and the Oboto-to-coastal line road designed to support local fishing communities by improving access to inland markets.

“We’ve inspected several roads in the Southern Senatorial District today. There are still others we couldn’t visit, but we’ll plan to inspect those in due course,” Aiyedatiwa added.

He reiterated his administration’s resolve to complete all ongoing road projects, stating that improved road access will enhance movement, stimulate local economies, and raise the quality of life across Ondo State.
