It was a colourful and spiritually uplifting celebration as New Wave of Glory Ministry, located in Oko-Afo, Badagry, Lagos State, hosted its annual Children’s Anniversary with the theme “Let’s Fear the Lord.”

The highlight of the event was a sermon delivered by Eniola Adetayo, who drew attention to the importance of revering God as a guiding principle for both young and old. She explained that fearing God involves obedience, moral discipline, and making the right decisions, even in difficult circumstances.

Citing Biblical examples, Adetayo referenced Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice Isaac in obedience to divine instruction, Joseph’s rejection of Potiphar’s wife due to his reverence for God, and the steadfastness of the three Hebrew men who refused to bow to a royal idol despite threats to their lives. These, she said, are reflections of genuine godly fear.

The sermon drew strength from scriptural texts such as Deuteronomy 5:8, Proverbs 2:10, and Malachi 3:10. According to her, fearing God brings wisdom, long life, and blessing, including the conviction to give back to God through tithing.

She further outlined practical steps to nurturing this reverence: consistent reading of the Bible and obedience to God’s commandments.

The programme featured various segments, including an opening prayer, Bible reading, children’s speech presentations, praise and worship, choreography, debates, and memory verse recitations.

The event also had a strong support system from the church community. Caleb Daniel served as Father of the Day, while Grace Michael was honoured as Mother of the Day. Thirty-two chairpersons were recognised for their support and involvement, including Imole Awe, Esther Adebayo, Caleb Gbadeyan, and Adebimpe Adekunle.

The atmosphere was filled with joy and celebration, as children showcased their talents and understanding of faith, leaving the congregation with a deeper appreciation for the spiritual development of the younger generation.
