The initiative, launched in Akure on Wednesday, is being conducted in partnership with the Nigerian-German Centre for Migration and Development (GIZ-ZME). It forms part of a broader effort to prepare the youth for meaningful careers in the digital space and promote economic self-sufficiency.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented at the event by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to advancing digital skills among its youth population. He noted that the program aligns with the administration’s broader development strategy encapsulated in the ‘OUR EASE’ agenda.

“We are working with both public and private organizations to ensure our young people are well-prepared to play an active role in today’s economy. This training is another step towards equipping them with tools they can use to create opportunities for themselves and others” he said.

The Deputy Governor urged participants to make the most of the four-week course and apply the knowledge they gained to reshape their future.

Tomide Akinribido, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on ICT and Head of the State Information Technology Agency (SITA), said the training program is designed to give participants a solid foundation in various ICT fields. He expressed appreciation to the state leadership for prioritizing youth development.

Ayomikun Olugbode, who represented GIZ at the event, highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the organization and Ondo State, which has lasted over five years. He praised the sustained support from the state government in nurturing this partnership.
