The Oyo State Police Command has refuted reports circulating on social media claiming that pupils and teachers abducted from Ahoro Esiele and Yawota communities in Orire Local Government Area have been freed.
According to a press release issued by the Oyo State Police Command, the information being shared online is false and has no factual backing. The Command urged the public to disregard the claim and rely only on verified updates from official channels.
“The Command states unequivocally that the claim is false, misleading, and entirely unsubstantiated. As of the time of this release, there has been no such development, and members of the public are advised to disregard the report in its entirety,” the statement read.
The police further assured residents and families of the abducted victims that rescue efforts are still ongoing, with security operatives actively engaged in coordinated operations aimed at securing their safe return.
“The Command wishes to reassure the good people of Oyo State and the families of the victims that intensive and coordinated rescue operations remain ongoing. Security operatives are working tirelessly, deploying all available human and operational resources to ensure the safe rescue of the abducted pupils and teachers, their unharmed reunification with their families, and the apprehension and prosecution of all those responsible for the heinous act,” it stated.
The Command also cautioned against the spread of unverified information, warning that such reports could create panic and disrupt ongoing security actions.
It urged residents to depend strictly on official communication from the Nigeria Police Force and other authorized government bodies, while encouraging calm and vigilance across affected communities.
