In a message celebrating the elder statesman, Governor Sanwo-Olu described Pa Fasoranti as a steadfast and respected figure whose leadership has had a significant impact across Yoruba land. He noted that the nonagenarian’s stewardship of Afenifere, a leading pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, has helped to steer its mission with purpose and clarity.

Reflecting on his legacy, Sanwo-Olu acknowledged Pa Fasoranti’s close association with the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, identifying him as one of the trusted followers of the revered nationalist. He remarked that reaching the age of 99 is a rare gift and a moment deserving of public honor.

“On behalf of my family, the government and the people of Lagos State, I felicitate with Baba Fasoranti on this remarkable occasion. We thank God for his life and the strength he continues to show,” the governor said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded with prayers for Pa Fasoranti’s continued health, clarity of thought, and enduring guidance in his service to the Yoruba people.
