In a statement marking one year since Soyannwo’s passing, Governor Sanwo-Olu reflected on their close bond, describing the late aide not just as a colleague, but as a brother and trusted confidant. He noted that Soyannwo played a key role behind the scenes, offering steady counsel and remaining deeply committed to the shared vision for the state.

The governor recalled Soyannwo’s sense of purpose and the quiet strength he brought to his duties, stressing that he was deeply invested in the policies they worked on and the lives those policies aimed to impact.

Sanwo-Olu expressed a deep sense of loss, noting that Soyannwo’s absence is still felt across his team. He remembered him as someone whose calm demeanor and steady loyalty offered comfort during challenging times.

As he commemorated the anniversary of Soyannwo’s death, Sanwo-Olu extended his thoughts to the late official’s wife, Yewande, their children, and the entire Soyannwo family, offering prayers for their continued strength.

“Keep resting, Gboyega,” the governor wrote in a final tribute.
