Former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has been named head of a seven-member committee tasked with laying the groundwork for a peaceful and well-organized National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), slated for May 27, as well as the party’s upcoming national convention.
The announcement was made during a meeting of the PDP Governors’ Forum, which took place at the Bauchi State Governor’s Lodge. The gathering brought together serving and former governors aligned with the party, reflecting a renewed push to strengthen internal unity and prepare strategically for the months ahead.
The committee includes key figures from across the country: Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau, and Governor Peter Mba of Enugu. Also on the team are Senator Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa and Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo from Gombe State, among others.
The selection of Saraki, a former governor and one-time Senate President, signals the party’s intent to steer preparations with a steady hand, as the PDP works to consolidate its position and avoid internal divisions ahead of major political decisions.
