The Lagos State Government has reminded residents across the state to take part in the monthly environmental sanitation exercise scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, between 6:30am and 8:30am.
The reminder was issued by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, who called on Lagosians to remain indoors during the exercise and clean their surroundings.
Wahab urged residents to clear drainage channels, sweep their surroundings, bag their waste properly and place them at designated collection points for evacuation by the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA).
“Tomorrow, Saturday, 30th May, 2026, is our monthly environmental sanitation exercise across Lagos State, and I urge every resident to participate fully from 6.30am to 8.30am. Please stay at home and clean your surroundings. Clear your drains, sweep your frontages, BAG YOUR WASTE, and place it at designated points for LAWMA to evacuate,” he said.
The commissioner described the exercise as a shared responsibility aimed at protecting the environment, reducing flood risks and promoting public health across the state.
“This monthly exercise is not a punishment, it is our collective civic duty to protect our environment, prevent flooding, and safeguard public health. The compliance we have witnessed so far has been encouraging, but we must keep building the momentum,” Wahab added.
He also appreciated residents for their support and appealed for sustained participation in keeping Lagos State, the Centre of Excellence, clean.
“Let us come out tomorrow and do the work that keeps our city safe and clean. I thank all Lagosians for their cooperation, and I assure you that together we will sustain a #CleanerLagos and a #GreaterLagos,” he stated.
