Whejiepon Ola Appointed Media Head for Slave Freedom Memorial

The founder of Badagry Radio, Mr. Whejiepon Anthony Ola, has been appointed to head Publicity and Media Coordination for the programme tagged Slave Freedom Memorial programme in Badagry.

The event, which is in commemoration of the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition, is scheduled to hold between August 22nd and 23rd in the town of Badagry.

Activities for the programme are a candlelight procession, cultural displays, community engagements, lectures, stage drama and film screenings designed to reflect the town’s historic role in the transatlantic slave trade and its eventual abolition.

With his years of experience in broadcasting and grassroots reach, Mr. Ola will coordinate media coverage before and during the commemoration, to engage community platforms and national outlets.

As preparations are going on for the celebration in Badagry, residents are urged to witness the show.
