Governor Dapo Abiodun of the Gateway State (Ogun) has called on banks and other corporate organizations operating within the state to go beyond profit-making and embrace initiatives that directly improve the lives of residents.
Speaking on the inauguration of Premium Trust Bank’s new branch in Abeokuta, Governor Abiodun acknowledged the bank’s visible support for youth and sports development, highlighting its sponsorship of the Gateway Games and backing of the last National Sports Festival. He said the bank’s involvement has helped promote talent and provided opportunities for young people.
“We are calling on all financial institutions and corporate organizations operating in Ogun State to partner with us in making life better for our people. Our relevance as a government and yours as businesses should not be defined by profit alone, but by the positive social impact we create together,” the governor said.
The governor emphasized the importance of giving back to the society that sustains business growth, noting that corporate responsibility should extend across sectors such as education, health, business empowerment, and environmental care.
He restated his administration’s commitment to inclusive growth through the ISEYA development agenda, which he said is aimed at reducing inequalities between urban and rural communities while promoting investments that bring lasting benefits.
Governor Abiodun expressed appreciation to investors like Premium Trust Bank, whose efforts align with the state’s goals. He noted that the arrival of more responsible investors marks a period of renewed economic growth in Ogun.
“We welcome genuine investors like Premium Trust Bank who are aligning with our vision for growth. With more institutions coming into our state, we are witnessing a new era of economic vitality, one that benefits every citizen,” the governor said.
He called on other stakeholders to join hands with the government in shaping a better future for all residents of the state.
“Let us continue this momentum and build the future of Ogun State, together,” Governor Abiodun concluded.
