Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has expressed gratitude to residents of the Centre of Excellence (Lagos State) for turning out to vote during the local government elections held across the state on Saturday.
In a message shared via his official social media platforms, the governor lauded the orderly and responsible manner in which voters conducted themselves at polling units, describing it as a reflection of the collective will of a people deeply committed to democratic progress and community development.
Governor Sanwo-Olu extended appreciation to youths, elders, traders, artisans, professionals, and various interest groups for participating actively and peacefully in the electoral process. He said their engagement underscores Lagos’ longstanding commitment to inclusive governance driven by active public involvement.
He also acknowledged the contributions of security personnel, journalists, and election officials for ensuring the exercise was peaceful and credible. Their roles, he noted, were instrumental in the smooth conduct of the polls.
As the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) continues with collation and announcement of results, the governor called on political aspirants and their supporters to remain calm and uphold democratic values.
“Together, we have taken another bold step in strengthening democratic governance at the grassroots,” Governor Sanwo-Olu stated, reaffirming the state’s dedication to building a united, peaceful, and progressive Lagos.
He concluded by thanking residents for their trust and participation, expressing hope that the outcome of the election would further reflect the collective aspirations of the people.
