crossorigin="anonymous"> crossorigin="anonymous"> NDC Sets May 29 for Presidential Primary, Begins Sale of Forms May 13

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has released its schedule for the sale of nomination forms, screening of aspirants and conduct of primary elections ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday by the party’s National Chairman, Sen. Moses Cleopas Zwugoh, and National Secretary, Barr. Ikenna Morgan Enukweizu Esq., the party said the sale of Expression of Interest Forms would begin on May 13 and close on May 18, 2026.

The party stated that screening and interview sessions for aspirants would take place between May 19 and May 21, while nomination forms would be available immediately after the exercise and end on May 23.

It noted that completed nomination forms must be returned on or before May 25, while appeals arising from the screening process would be handled between May 25 and May 26.

NDC fixed May 27 and 28 for primary elections into various elective offices, while the presidential primary is scheduled for May 29 in Abuja.

The party explained that aspirants for State Houses of Assembly would be screened in their respective states, while those seeking tickets for the National Assembly and the presidency would undergo screening at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.

It also disclosed that governorship primaries would be conducted at the local government level.

The statement said all aspirants would be required to sign an undertaking in line with the party’s guidelines and code of conduct.

The party assured members of what it described as “a transparent, inclusive, and democratic process in the sale of forms and conduct of primaries.”

NDC also announced that it would adopt the “open secret ballot” method for the primaries to guarantee “credibility, fairness, and internal democracy.”

On nomination fees, the party fixed the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for State House of Assembly aspirants at ₦1 million and ₦1.5 million respectively.

House of Representatives aspirants are expected to pay ₦2 million for the Expression of Interest Form and ₦4 million for the Nomination Form, while Senate aspirants will pay ₦3 million and ₦5 million respectively.

Governorship aspirants are to pay ₦10 million for the Expression of Interest Form and ₦20 million for the Nomination Form, while presidential aspirants will pay ₦20 million and ₦40 million respectively.

The party also granted concessions to women and persons living with disabilities, stating that female aspirants and PWDs would pay “50% and 25% of the fees across all categories.”
