The All Progressives Congress (APC) has completed its 2027 election candidate submission, accusing opposition parties of failing to meet the Independent National Electoral Commission’s deadline.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said it met the July 11 deadline for uploading the details of its Presidential and National Assembly candidates on the INEC Candidate Nomination Portal.

The party stated that it achieved the feat despite the large number of aspirants contesting under its platform, while opposition parties sought additional time from INEC after missing the original submission date.

INEC later granted an extension of the deadline to July 14, 2026, following requests from parties that could not complete the process within the initial timeframe.

Reacting to the development, the APC said the delay by opposition parties exposed weaknesses in their internal arrangements and raised questions about their preparedness for governance.

“This development provides yet another clear indication of the opposition’s chronic inherent weakness and raises legitimate questions about their operational capacity,” Morka stated.

The party also faulted opposition claims that the APC influences INEC decisions, saying the request for an extension contradicted such allegations.

“It is starkly ironical that the same opposition parties have repeatedly peddled false, malicious and unfounded tales that the APC controls and dictates INEC’s decisions,” the statement read.

The APC maintained that completing the nomination process ahead of the deadline demonstrated its readiness for the 2027 elections, urging party members and stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation and focus on promoting the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The party said preparations would continue towards an issue-based campaign aimed at securing another mandate in the 2027 general elections.
