The Osun State APC governorship candidate, Biodun Oyebamiji, has accepted the outcome of the August 15 election while demanding investigations into deaths linked to political violence.
Addressing APC leaders, members and supporters in the state, Oyebamiji said the party would pursue justice and fairness through lawful and constitutional means where legitimate concerns existed.
“While we accept the outcome of the election and congratulate the winner, we cannot forget the painful incidents of violence and the lives that were lost,” he said.
Oyebamiji mourned victims of political violence and expressed solidarity with their families, calling on security agencies to investigate the incidents and prosecute those found responsible.
“I call on the relevant security agencies to thoroughly investigate these incidents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. No political contest should cost any Nigerian their life,” the former candidate said.
He urged APC supporters to remain calm, united and committed to democratic processes, stressing that the party’s focus must now shift to the 2027 general election.
“I urge our supporters not to be discouraged. We must remain calm, united and resolute, while keeping faith in democracy and the institutions established to protect it,” Oyebanji said.
He also called on APC members across Osun to close ranks and strengthen the party ahead of the next general election.
“Our immediate responsibility is to mobilise for the re-election of His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and the success of all our candidates in Osun State,” he said.
Oyebamiji expressed appreciation to APC leaders and supporters for their backing during the campaign, singling out President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Osun Governor Bisi Akande and former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for their guidance and support.
He said the party’s “Prosperity Agenda” remained alive, pledging continued efforts toward a greater Osun where opportunities are accessible to all and public resources are fairly deployed.
“Our journey continues. The Prosperity Agenda remains alive, and our dream of a greater Osun remains unwavering,” Oyebamiji said.
