President Bola Tinubu has declared that the 2027 general election will shape the future of Nigerian youths, following his visits to Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.
Tinubu made the declaration in a statement reflecting on his two-day engagements in the South-South states, where he was accompanied by Vice President Kashim Shettima and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu.
The President said the reception he received in Uyo and Port Harcourt demonstrated strong public enthusiasm, expressing appreciation for the hospitality extended to his delegation.
He also commended Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, over major infrastructure projects, particularly investments in road construction, aviation and tourism.
Tinubu singled out the proposed Ibom Deep Sea Port, describing it as a project with enormous potential to stimulate trade, attract investment and create employment opportunities across the region.
In Rivers State, the President addressed supporters at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, where he highlighted his administration’s achievements, acknowledged existing challenges and outlined opportunities being pursued for young Nigerians.
He stressed that the next general election would go beyond political competition, arguing that its outcome would have significant implications for the country’s younger generation.
“As I told our people in Port Harcourt, the 2027 election is about the future of our young people and the country we are building for them,” he said.
Tinubu expressed gratitude to Shettima, Governors Eno and Siminalayi Fubara, party leaders, traditional rulers and residents of both states for their support during the visits.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to its development agenda, the President declared: “This progress has no reverse gear.”
He ended his message with a rallying call, saying: “South-South no dey carry last! Nigeria, we move!”
