The 100-day celebration of the Executive Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Badagry, Lagos State, Hon. Peter Ajose, and his Vice, Hon. Adele Solomon, came to a close with an empowerment programme held for residents and stakeholders across the council.

Our correspondent, who monitored the event at Mowo Junior Secondary School, Age-Mowo, reports that the grand finale featured the distribution of empowerment items and official presentations aimed at supporting livelihoods and strengthening local governance.

As part of the programme, Hon. Ajose presented official vehicles to the five elected councillors representing their respective wards in the legislative arm of the council.

Several empowerment items were distributed to beneficiaries drawn from different communities within the LCDA. These included grinding machines, make-up kits, chest freezers, hair dryers, sewing machines, barbing kits, generators, Point-of-Sale terminals, as well as cash support for selected recipients.

The programme also featured the presentation of an automated wheelchair to a physically challenged member of staff of the council, in recognition of what the administration described as dedication to duty.

Speaking at the event, the council chairman said, “This administration believes fervently that hard work, punctuality and dedication should never go unnoticed, and in that light, we are presenting an automated wheelchair to one of the physically challenged staff who has continued to discharge his responsibility with determination, without allowing his physical condition to hinder his overall performance.”

He said the empowerment initiative was part of efforts to deliver on campaign commitments made to residents during the electioneering period.

“We also want to fulfill our promises during the electioneering campaigns to the electorate. Our people will be enjoying the dividends of democracy through the distribution of the following items: ten chest freezers, twenty hair dryers, twenty sewing machines…” he added.

Hon. Ajose urged beneficiaries to put the items to proper use, explaining that the intervention was designed to support self-reliance, job creation and wider participation in economic activities across the council area.

The empowerment programme marked the conclusion of activities lined up to commemorate the first 100 days in office of the current Olorunda LCDA administration.
