The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disowned Abayomi Hunye’s declaration as its 2027 Ogun governorship candidate, describing him as an impostor.

The party made the position known in a disclaimer signed by its National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Monday.

The APC said Hunye, who recently presented himself as the party’s governorship candidate, was suspended on April 7, 2026, following a petition from his Tube Ward in Ipokia Local Government Area.

According to the party, the suspension was initiated by the ward executives, ratified by the Ipokia Local Government Area and approved by the Ogun State Working Committee before being communicated to the national headquarters.

The party accused Hunye of “nefarious dealings” and “anti-party activities”, alleging that his actions were injurious to the APC’s image and capable of creating division among its members.

It declared that he was “not a member of the APC in good standing” and lacked the standing to represent the party in any capacity.

The APC said Senator Adeola Olamilekan emerged from its governorship primary as the party’s candidate for the 2027 Ogun election, with Balogun Kudirat Abiodun as his running mate.

It said the names and particulars of the duo had been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission portal, with acknowledgement slips issued by the commission confirming them as the party’s recognised flag bearers for the January 2027 election.

The party warned individuals and organisations against conducting political or financial transactions with Hunye under the APC name, saying such dealings would be undertaken at their own risk.

The APC also said its legal team had been directed to commence contempt proceedings and lodge a complaint with relevant security agencies over what it described as “gross misrepresentation and impersonation.”

It urged media organisations and the public to disregard publications, interviews and documents emanating from Hunye in connection with the APC.

The party called on its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, while directing those seeking clarification or official updates to contact the APC National Secretariat through the Office of the National Secretary.
