The member representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Sesi Whingan, has rejected a purported APC primary election result circulating on social media, insisting that he remains the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election in the constituency.
The position was contained in a statement released on Tuesday by the media team in Whingan’s office, following the circulation of a document on some Facebook blog pages allegedly declaring Onilude Segun Adeniran winner of the APC House of Representatives primary election in Badagry Federal Constituency.
The statement described the document as a fake AI-generated list allegedly being spread by persons working for Adeniran, warning party members and residents against accepting it as authentic.
“The fabricated list falsely claims that Hon. Onilude Segun Adeniran emerged as the winner of the APC House of Representatives primary election for Badagry Federal Constituency. This claim is entirely false, misleading and should be disregarded by the public,” the statement read.
Whingan’s office maintained that the lawmaker emerged as the winner of the APC primary election held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, and remained the party’s recognised candidate for the constituency.
It stated that the result being circulated online was “nothing but a poorly doctored version of the authentic primary election result in a failed attempt to manipulate public perception and create confusion within the party and among the people of Badagry.”
The statement added that the APC leadership was aware of the situation and knew “the genuine winner of the primary election,” noting that the party would make its official pronouncement at the appropriate time.
The media team urged party faithful and supporters not to be distracted by what it described as propaganda and false narratives aimed at misleading the public.
The statement also said Whingan continued to enjoy support across the constituency due to his record in office over the past two and a half years.
“We therefore call on all supporters of Hon. Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan and the good people of Badagry Federal Constituency to remain calm, focused, and united,” the statement added.
“Truth remains constant, and no amount of manipulation can change the authentic outcome of the APC primary election in Badagry Federal Constituency.”
