The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated 140,000 copies of seven educational books to public school libraries across the country in a move aimed at strengthening reading culture, promoting moral values and supporting the development of Nigerian children.

The Federal Ministry of Education announced the donation in a statement on Thursday, saying the books would be distributed to public school libraries across the federation as part of efforts to improve literacy and values-based learning.

Receiving the books, the Minister of Education, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, said the donation supports President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the ministry’s drive to deliver quality, inclusive and learner-centred education.

The books were produced through the First Lady’s partnership with the Merck Foundation under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI). They cover girl-child education, child protection, healthy living, gender-based violence, reproductive health, social responsibility and character development.

Alausa described the collection as practical educational resources” that will strengthen literacy, critical thinking, empathy and responsible citizenship.

He also praised the First Lady’s commitment to education and pledged that the books would be distributed effectively to public school libraries across the country.

The ministry said the donation represents a lasting legacy that will deepen Nigeria’s reading culture while supporting the growth of responsible, productive and globally competitive citizens.
