The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has commenced its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for entry-level positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10 and 12.
The commission announced the recruitment in a notice issued on Monday, stating that the exercise is designed to boost its capacity in electoral administration, voter registration, data management, election logistics and other key responsibilities tied to its constitutional mandate.
Available positions include professional roles for lawyers, clinical officers, information technology officers, engineers, accountants and other specialists on Grade Levels 09, 10 and 12. The commission is also recruiting Administrative Officer II (Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 08 and Executive Officer (Assistant Registration Area Officer) on Grade Level 07.
INEC said applicants for professional positions must possess a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent, a master’s degree in the relevant field, applicable professional certification, an NYSC discharge, exemption or exclusion certificate, practical knowledge in their area of specialisation and computer skills.
For the Administrative Officer II position, candidates are expected to hold a bachelor’s degree, Higher National Diploma or an equivalent qualification in the Social Sciences, Humanities or Sciences, alongside an NYSC certificate, knowledge of data management and record keeping, communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office and other ICT tools.
Applicants seeking the Executive Officer position must possess a National Certificate in Education or an equivalent qualification, basic computer knowledge, communication and organisational skills, and the ability to work under supervision within assigned registration areas.
The commission said applicants must be Nigerian citizens by birth or descent, present a valid certificate of state of origin signed by the chairman or secretary of their local government, be certified medically fit by a government medical officer, and must not be above 35 years of age at the time of application.
It also stated that candidates must possess good character, have no criminal conviction, be ready to serve in any part of the country, and demonstrate integrity, discipline and commitment to public service.
Applications are to be submitted online through the INEC recruitment portal. Applicants are expected to visit the portal, click on the vacancies section, complete the appropriate form, upload the required credentials and submit their applications.
The commission said, “Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for the next stage of the recruitment exercise.”
INEC also stressed that “Application is FREE OF CHARGE.”
Warning prospective applicants, the commission said, “Multiple applications by a candidate will lead to automatic disqualification,” adding that “Submission of false information or forged documents will attract disqualification and possible prosecution.”
The application window opens on Monday, July 20, 2026, and closes on Monday, July 27, 2026.
