Veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, is battling stage-four cancer, with his daughters appealing for urgent medical intervention.
The development was disclosed by his daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, in separate emotional appeals shared on Instagram on Monday, August 17, 2026.
According to the daughters, their father’s condition has deteriorated, with hospitals allegedly declining to continue his treatment. They appealed to medical professionals, hospitals and individuals with access to credible cancer-treatment options to come to his aid.
Lima, who struggled to hold back tears in her video, said the family only became aware of the seriousness of the actor’s condition about three weeks ago, noting that his physical appearance initially did not suggest that he was seriously ill.
Kira, in her own appeal, disclosed that the actor had been diagnosed with stage-four cancer and said doctors had told the family that chemotherapy could no longer be administered.
She appealed to anyone with the capacity to provide further medical intervention to contact the family, stressing that their immediate concern was finding someone capable of treating their father.
The daughters also clarified that the family was not appealing for financial donations, acknowledging Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, for supporting the family and helping to settle medical bills.
The emotional appeals have since generated reactions from fans, colleagues and members of the public, with many expressing concern and offering prayers for the veteran actor.
Taiwo Hassan, 66, is one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry, having built a career spanning several decades as an actor, producer and filmmaker.
As of the time of filing this report, the family had not publicly disclosed the specific type of cancer affecting the actor or identified the hospital where he had been receiving treatment. The family’s appeal remains focused on finding credible and immediate medical assistance for him.
